If you’ve been admiring the stunning Yangshuo landscape and wondering to yourself whether or not you could push a bike through all those jutting mountains and plunging valleys, the answer is a definite YES! Ride out of town and into the countryside and get lost among the endless trails. Discover pine forest runs, muddy single track, killer climbs and rocky down hills – just remember to look up once in a while to see the incredible scenery that surrounds you! Join one of our guides for some great cross country riding or something more technical in this truly awesome part of China. Beginner to advanced riders welcome with singles to large groups catered for. Every ride is different…we’ll design a route that suits your abilities, time frame and riding style.
Tour Route
We have several different routes to choose from to suit riders abilities and interests - cycle more challenging trails along the Li River and Xing Ping or take a scenic route from Yangshuo along the Yulong and Jinbao River Vallys. Rides are from 30km to 70km and range from a mix of trail, tractor trails, sealed backroads and more technical trails with steep climbs and downhills. We'll outline a route for you when you contact us and routes can be altered on the day also.
Starting from our shop in Yangshuo town, we'll set up your bike and go over the route for the day. We'll cycle out of town and be cycling in the countryside within minutes. Our routes will take you along riverside trails, through bamboo and pine forests and up into the karst mountains to give you spectacular views of the surrounding scenery far away from the crowds. We'll stop for a local lunch before hitting the trails and making our way back to the Bike Asia shop in Yangshuo for a cold beer.
Start & Finish Point
We would normally reccomend starting all our Yangshuo local tours at the Bike Asia Shop in Yangshuo town centre. This way we can fit you out with bikes that suit you, particualrly if you are unsure of what size bike you prefer. If you are happy for us to choose bikes for you, and it is more convenient, we can start and finish the tour at your hotel. Just let us know your preference when you book or chat to us about what the options are.
Tour Duration
Generally, this tour works best starting around 9am with no particular finish time: the finish time depends on your cycling ability but will likely end before or around 4pm. Booked as a private tour, you have the flexibility to set times that suit you - once again, just let us know what you prefer when you book.
On Demand Tour
This is an On Demand tour which means you can book it at any time during the availability period - March to December - and it is a Private Tour. If you would like to open your booked tour to allow others to join - for some tours this might, but not always, mean a discount in price - we can advertise the departure date to allow fellow travellers to share the experience with you.
What to Bring?
- Comfortable cycling clothes, covered shoes and swimwear (check the weather!)
- Sunscreen
- Camera
- Water bottle (a filled water bottle will be on the bike - feel free to bring your own bottle if you like)

How difficult is the cycling on the tour?
This is up to you. If you book as a private tour we'll design the tour to suit the distance and level of challenge you want. We can even design a route to include most of the scenic areas around Yangshuo or get you way off the beaten track.
-
Can we start and finish the tour from our hotel?
You can. Just let us know where you are staying and we'll design a route around your location. We do like to make sure you have the right bikes to suit your heights so make sure you let us know how tall (or short) you are so we can bring them along to your hotel.
-

Yes. We include a local lunch at an appropriate point of the ride. Just let your guide know if you have any particular dietary requirements.
-
What happens if it rains?
Generally, unless the rain is severe, we'll run the tour anyway. During the operational months for this tour the rain is not cold. However, if the rain is severe and it is not feasible to run the tour we will cancel it. In cases where we need to cancel due to circumstances out of our control we will offer a full refund or reschedule to an alternative time.
-
Can we change the itinerary or customise the tour?
Not for publicly listed dates, but if you have your own group or date in mind, Yes. If you want to make a private booking we can help design a tour that suits you. You may have ideas based on any of our tours or something in mind that you can't find on our website. Just get in contact with us and let us know what you have in mind and we'll try our best to make it happen!
-
Do you cater for vegetarians?
Yes we do! If you have any dietery requirements just let us know when you book in the space provided (Additional Requests). For any severe alergies or other conditions it is best that you let us know in advance so that we can prepare and/ or advise you on what we can provide or what you might need to bring so that are well catered for.
-
Is the tour suitable for children?
Our policy for children is that children must be over 16 years of age and accompanied by at least one legal guardian. They should be able to complete the tour as would any other participant. We would require that you consult with us about the suitability of older childeren participating on the tour before you book. As these are group tours, we'd need to make sure that your child or children will not impact the enjoyment of the tour of other participants. We would assess this with you on a case by case basis.
We do run family specific tours so these are good options when travelling with kids, or you may choose to opt for a private tour based on any of the tours on our website. Just chat to us about the possibilities about what will work best for your family.

What about Covid 19?
2020 has seen travel grind to a halt and the outlook going into 2021 looks to be more of the same. While we have suspended travel to most of our destinations we are operating tours in China for domestic travellers. We'll open up destinations as the stuation improves and only when travel is green lighted by the relevant health and government agencies.
Travelling during this time means adhering to mandated guidlines and practices which means having green codes enabled on your mobile phone apps, taking Covid tests, wearing masks where neccesary, and filling in contact and travel history forms. These rules and guidelines are constantly changing as situations regarding the virus change, so it is important to remain flexible. We'll inform you of the requirements when you book and leading into the tour departure date.
Given the situation as it is, please understand that cancellations are quite possible and are outside of our control. While we understand the frustrations this may present, we'll do our best to make things run as smooth as possible and keep you informed of any changes as they arise.
During this time we will only accept full payments for tours three weeks before departure. All payments, however, will be refunded in full if the tour is cancelled prior to departure, or your personal covid-related situation precludes you from commencing the tour. Please make sure when booking flights that they are aslo refundable in the event of a cancelation.

Before you book, we recommend that you read through the tour details and our booking terms and conditions. You can contact us about the trip if you have any questions at info@bikeasia.com or set up a time to chat about the tour.

For shorter trips and day tours we require full payment 30 days prior to the commencement of the tour or as soon as convenient if booking within 30 days of departure.
