"For those with active and adventurous tastes this tour gives you access to the best of Yangshuo’s stunning scenery over three days of cycling as we head into the hills for some stunning views and explore smaller off the beaten track towns and villages."
Day 1: Arrive in Yangshuo
Your transfer from Guilin airport, train station or hotel will be waiting for your arrival to take you to our hotel in the centre of Yangshuo. Keep an eye out for a Bike Asia sign with your name on it! The drive takes approximately 90 minutes. We will meet you when you arrive in Yangshuo to go over any details, answer any questions you may have and fit you with bikes. We’ll also take you on a mini-tour of the town to point out all the essentials and offer some suggestions on some good things to do and the best places to eat. The rest of the day and evening is free for you to explore the town.
Day 2: Cycle to XingpingBreakfast & Lunch 40 km
Guided by a local expert, you cycle north out of Yangshuo through some of the bigger karst mountains in the area. Your destination is Xing Ping and you’ll need a daypack to bring your essentials for an overnight stay here. The day starts with winding uphill as you navigate your way from flat land rice plots and bamboo-lined rivers through rice-terraces, tea plantations and orange orchards several hundred metres above the Li River Valley. With most of the hard work done in the first 20 km, you can relax a little and enjoy the spectacular views, including a waterfall, with the famous Li River meandering in and out of sight. Your cycling guide will have a packed lunch for you to eat en-route so you can pick a spot with the best views to relax for awhile. There’s a great downhill to the banks of the Li River, along which you’ll cycle, before crossing by local ferry to Xingping and your lodgings for the night.
Day 3: Cycle to ChaolongBreakfast & Lunch 70 km
With an early start to the day early with a short smooth ride up the Li River before boarding a local boat to Yangdi: this is the prettiest section of the Li River. On arrival in Yangdi it’s time for a hearty noodle breakfast, a quick look around the local markets before hitting the road again. The road heads up steeply for three km’s as you climb away from the river. The road is sealed all the way until lunch and you will be cycling through some very pretty rural countryside and, of course, sublime karst mountain scenery. We’ll take you through the local markets at Baisha where produce from the region is sold and we’ll have a great local hotpot lunch with all the local farmers. After lunch we’ll visit the 500 year old Dragon and Fuli Bridges. The cycling takes us off-road again on single track and dirt roads through rice fields and by the Yu Long River. The scenery here is out of this world and everything deserves a photo! With options to head straight for our stay in renovated farmers cottages in the village of Chao Long or to take a diversion to Moon Hill for a climb to the top, this is a big action packed day. And if the weather’s hot…we highly recommend a swim down at the river during summer! We will transfer your bags to the Chao Long Village for you.
Day 4: Cycle to YangshuoBreakfast & Lunch 25 km
Today we’ll hit the road for a short ride back to the hotel in Yangshuo (your luggage will be transferred for you). Today is devoted to climbing (or the activity of your choice). Yangshuo has a developing international reputation for the quality of the rock-climbing, so we have included a half-day rock-climbing session. It does not matter if you are a novice or professional climber, these guys can and do cater to all levels. Note: If rock-climbing is not your thing, you are most welcome to replace it with either: A hike through one of the caves with a local guide Kayak down the Li River, or A half-day course at a cooking school.
Day 5: Departure Day135 km
Departure Day. Today is departure day and you are free to leave at anytime. We’ll organise a transfer to connect with your onward travel. If you wish to stay longer to soak up Yangshuo’s unique atmosphere and activities check out our Yangshuo options page or chat to us about the possibilities on offer.
