| Day | Activity | Location | Mekong River – Buddhist temples and art – lush rice fields – rice barges – French colonial architecture of Vientiane – rice wine – H'Mong villages – limestone karst peaks – jungle – waterfalls – Bangkok A great trip with wonderful variety. 'Lao lao' is a rice wine distilled locally in villages and while we don't suggest you consume it while cycling it does give a good idea of this trip - local, fun and tasty. We start with a classic riverboat journey down the Mekong River to Luang Prabang, one of South East Asia's most beautiful towns. The cycling on this trip is spectacular as we start with a climb into the limestone mountains and then descend for a number of days through H'Mong villages to Vang Vieng, a mecca for travellers! From here we cycle away from the mountains for the city of Vientiane. |
